In order for the air conditioner to last a long time, work efficiently and provide clean indoor air, it is important to take regular care of it. Here are the basic steps to help keep it in perfect condition.:
1. Clean the filters every 2-4 weeks
Filters collect dust, wool, pollen and other contaminants. Clogged filters impair air circulation and can cause unpleasant odors. It is enough to carefully remove them, rinse them under warm water, dry them and install them back.
2. Wipe the panel and blinds
Dust on the exterior panel and air flow guides not only spoils the appearance, but can also enter the air. Wipe them with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth without harsh detergents.
3. Keep an eye on the self-cleaning function (if any)
Many models, such as Sitronic air conditioners, have an integrated I CLEAN self-cleaning function. It automatically removes moisture and bacteria from the interior surfaces. Turn it on after every active use of the air conditioner, especially in summer.
4. Check the external unit
If the air conditioner is split-system, do not forget about the outdoor unit. Inspect it for dirt, leaves, or cobwebs. In case of heavy contamination, it is better to call a specialist.
5. Do not neglect after-sales service
Once a year, call a qualified technician for complete diagnostics and maintenance: pressure check, heat exchanger cleaning, freon check, electronics test. This is especially important before the start of the hot season.
6. Use the air conditioner properly
Do not set temperatures too low — this not only increases energy consumption, but also can damage the compressor. The optimal difference between outdoor and indoor temperatures is 6-8°C.
7. Pay attention to smells and sounds.
If an unpleasant smell or noise starts coming from the air conditioner, or it starts cooling poorly, this is a reason to immediately stop work and call the master. This may be a signal for a more serious breakdown.
